As we arrive at this blessed time of year, a time of joy and thanksgiving, a time of parties & family, a time when all mankind is at peace with one another, we must acknowledge that it is also a time of messed-up schedules and releases when it comes to our favorite comics and games.  So here’s the skinny on how the next couple weeks will play out down here at ye ol’ hobby shop.

First, our hours.  We’ll be closing at 5pm on Thursday, December 24th, for Christmas Eve, and then closed on Friday for Christmas (we are SO SELFISH!!).  Then, we’ll close at 6pm on Thursday, December 31st, and close on New Year’s Day.  Other than that, it’s business as usual.

Second, the major change is that there are NO NEW COMIC BOOKS shipping next week.  Instead of altering shipping schedules and trying to squeeze in a week of releases between Christmas and New Year’s, the major publishers and Diamond Distribution got together and decided to just take a skip week this year.  There are a few notable exceptions – Marvel and DC are both putting out one major release that week.  They’ll ship this week (the 23rd), but not go on sale until Wednesday, December 30th.  It’s both an incentive for customers to go into stores that week, and a little test for retailers to see if they can actually abide by a street date.  You can count on somebody to probably screw it up, but it won’t be Clem’s… next Wednesday, the 30th, we will be putting out for sale the 6th issue of Blackest Night from DC, and we will have several giveaways from Marvel, including the 2010 calendar and the one-shot comic book Origins of Siege.  These will only be available in limited quantities – we SHOULD have enough for everybody that wants one, but it’s first come, first serve, so you’ll want to get in here that week!!

In addition to those releases, we’ll also be having a sale on a few things to help you get through the week.  This two-day sale, covering Wednesday the 30th and Thursday the 31st, will offer the following discounts:

Wednesday, December 30th – Board Game group is ON, at 6pm
Thursday, December 31st – NO Magic
Friday, January 1st – Not sure about RPG’s, up to the DMs.  Check the forums.
Saturday, January 2nd – NO Heroclix
